 Date: February 25, 2024

In a dramatic turn of events today, nurses employed under the Tamil Nadu Medical Recruitment Board (MRB) gathered in large numbers to submit a bulk application at the Directorate of Medical Services (DMS) Office, expressing their frustration and disappointment with the DMK-led government's failure to fulfill its election manifesto promises.

The DMK government, in its election manifesto, had pledged to provide permanent jobs for all MRB nurses, a commitment that has remained unfulfilled, causing immense distress and dissatisfaction among the nursing community in the state.

The nurses, armed with their applications, arrived at the DMS Office on February 25, 2024, hoping to draw attention to their plight and seek a resolution from the authorities. However, their peaceful protest took a distressing turn as police intervened, leading to the arrest of several nurses.

Over the past few months, MRB nurses have engaged in various protests to highlight their demand for permanent employment, but the government has yet to take any decisive action. The frustration among the nursing community has been growing, and today's incident only adds to their sense of disillusionment.

"We trusted the promises made in the election manifesto, and we have been patiently waiting for the government to fulfill its commitment. However, our patience has worn thin, and today's arrest is a testament to our desperation," said one of the nurses participating in the protest.

The nurses argue that they have been serving on a temporary basis for far too long, with the uncertainty of their employment status adversely affecting their personal and professional lives. Many nurses who participated in today's protest expressed their disappointment with the government's lack of response to their repeated pleas.

The DMK government's failure to address the issue adequately has intensified the standoff between the nurses and the administration. The arrest of nurses has further fueled tensions, with healthcare professionals demanding the immediate release of their colleagues and a sincere effort to address their long-standing concerns.

As the situation unfolds, the Tamil Nadu MRB nurses remain determined in their quest for job security and are calling on the government to take immediate action to fulfill the promises made in the election manifesto. The ball is now in the government's court to find a resolution that satisfies the grievances of the nursing community and ensures the delivery of long-overdue permanent employment.
